INTERNATIONAL MAKE MUSIC DAY
Mark your calendars for Make Music Day – Wednesday, June 21st, Summer Solstice! It’s a free event with venues hosting all kinds of musicians all over town to celebrate music and the start of summer. (Kind of like Art Walk but with music)!
Thanks to Downtown Helena, Helena is the first Chapter in Montana to join International Make Music Day in partnership with Make Music Alliance and The National Association of Music Merchants.
Would you like to participate as a musician or a venue? Sign up at https://www.makemusicday.org/helena/ and you’ll be matched up.
The event will likely be from 12pm onwards (exact start time will be posted on @downtownhelena and @lassothemoontoys), culminating with Kendrick & Mondie leading a community sing-along/play-along after their set at Alive at Five.
Please feel free to pass this along to anyone who might be interested! Musicians can be professionals, or groups that are looking for more exposure, or kids ready to show off their skill, or grandparents who can only play a few songs on a banjo. Venues can be restaurants, bars, open spaces, laws, or even front porches. Anyone can join! Musicians can play their own music, or lead the audience in a play-along or drum circle.
Lasso the Moon will be hosting live music and will also have steel drums for people to try out, kazoos, hand drums, and a synthesizer.
This will be a really fun and unique way to bring us all together!
