Join Preserve Montana’s restoration crew in a three-day, hands-on workshop learning about restoration and maintenance of cedar shingle roofs. The cedar shingle roof of the historic Baxendale Schoolhouse in Helena will serve as the work site.
Participants will tear off the existing roof material and install underlayment, cedar shingles, flashing and ridge caps. Learn about tools, products and processes while assisting the non-profit Preserve Montana in rehabilitating the historic Baxendale Schoolhouse.
This workshop is completely hands-on and will require participants to be on scaffolding (10’ off the ground) most of the day.
Lunch will be provided all three days and participants will receive a Preserve Montana T-shirt!
A grant from the Montana State Historic Preservation Office was received to support the workshop allowing it to be offered at the low fee of $40 for Preserve Montana members and $50 for non-members. Non-members are encouraged to join Preserve Montana prior to registration.
Please note: The workshop is limited to eight participants, so register soon.
