Trained death doula Lindsey Barnes will be hosting a Q&A-based discussion on how to navigate aging, illness and death with an emphasis on retaining one’s personal autonomy. Being in control of one’s own dying process requires the advance planning of many decisions such as appointing medical representatives, articulating wishes for future medical interventions, vigil planning and after death care. In addition to learning the logistics of planning one’s own end-of-life experience, participants will have the opportunity to openly share their feelings and fears surrounding death in a safe and supporting environment. Lindsey’s experience as a doula has taught her that the way in which we live is often indicative of the way in which we die. By helping people to prepare themselves for their transition from this life to the next, regardless of age or health, Lindsey helps individuals not only to die a good death, but to live a good life.
