Montana Women’s Triathlon is presenting a workshop in Helena on February 25-26 “The Power of Sport”. Past participants have felt this power – the positive impact of sport to improve lives through commitment, confidence, and community.  We will share our stories and hear others’ throughout the day.  Saturday look forward to presentations on swim training, bike fitting, transition, nutrition, hydration, mobility, and anything triathlon from 8:30am to 3:30pm.  We’re excited to have Alexandera Houchin (Anishinaabe) as the keynote speaker for this two day event. Alexandera was the winner of the women’s 2700+ mile Tour Divide Mountain Bike Race (2018 & 2019). She’s currently the single speed women’s record holder for the Arizona Trail Race (300 & 800) and Tour Divide, as well as the overall women’s record holder for the Colorado Trail Race. She is a citizen of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe and her reservation is located 20 miles west of Lake Superior in northern Minnesota. Alexandera works towards increasing food sovereignty in her tribal community. As a recipient of a Native Farmer and Rancher Apprenticeship Grant, she is increasing representation of Indigenous people in contemporary society and gobbling up adventures when and wherever she can.  She will share her experiences in her talk titled “My Body Still Surprises Me: Lessons from Crossing the Finish Line”.

The workshop will be held Saturday from 8:30 to 3:30pm at the Holter Museum and conclude with the film “Expedition Reclamation” at the Myrna Loy Theater at 4:30-5:30pm.  Trailer here: https://vimeo.com/513516822 Extra tickets to the film are available for partners, friends, and family.  Check out the trailer here:  https://vimeo.com/513516822.  Lunch will be provided by Wunderlust (formerly Saigon Alley) on Saturday.  Sunday morning clinics will be hosted at the YMCA 9-12pm for swim training, bike fitting, and transition practice.  If weather permits riding outside will hopefully be an option.
