Montana is home to bears. It’s also home to amazing recreational opportunities that place us outdoors. Not surprisingly, bears and humans occasionally interact. Sometimes it is as harmless as spotting a bear on a ridge while out hiking. Other times it may be surprising to a sow with cubs in some berry bushes.
This free event, presented in partnership with Montana WILD, will provide participants with information so they can safely and responsibly enjoy the outdoors while in bear country. The training will cover all aspects of bear safety: where you’re likely to see a bear, how to avoid encounters, bear-safe camping practices, dealing with bear encounters, and hands-on bear spray instruction.
