Historic Finishes Workshop

September 13, @ 10:00 am - 3:30 pm
Baxendale Schoolhouse Preservation Center
$45 – $50

Join the non-profit Preserve Montana for this hands-on workshop about historic finishes!

Historic finishes are the original or historical coatings and decorative treatments applied to architectural elements like walls, woodwork, and metal. They help exclude moisture from penetrating architectural elements and causing deterioration. The use of appropriate finishes can slow deterioration caused by moisture penetration and keep your historic building well maintained for years to come.

This course content will teach the types, uses, and applications of historic finishes, with a focus on wood finishes. Recommendations for appropriate products and tools to use will also be provided.

Instructors:

Mary Webb, Helena-based woodworker
Eli Smith, Preserve Montana Restoration Director
