Did you know that the iconic national park posters that we cherish today were almost lost to history? Join MTHS graphic artist Luke Duran on a journey back to the draft tables and printing presses of the WPA. We’ll look at examples of the more than 35,000 poster designs that were created during this time. With unique hand-drawn lettering, simple messages and unforgettable illustrations, more than 2,000,000 posters were printed, yet less than 2,000 original posters are known to exist. Graphic Design of the WPA explores the history of this public works initiative, the WPA presence in Montana, and celebrates the “WPA Style” of design that remains popular in American culture today.
