Fall Colors and Side Quests

“Of all the memorable views, the best have been framed by Montana windows.” – William Hjortsberg

Montana is renowned for its expansive open skies, rugged mountains, and breathtaking views. The Fall season is a true showcase of everything it has to offer. Our team has been working hard to update our website, and we want to highlight a new section that will also help showcase more of what Montana has to offer. We want to say welcome to Montana’s Hometown – Helena. We are a central hub for discovery, outdoor adventure, and well-earned relaxation. Our city is the perfect outpost for experiencing the best of Big Sky Country. When you make our hometown your home base, Montana opens up in every direction—with wild adventures, breathtaking views, and time to pause and truly take it all in.

As you go out and explore Helena and the surrounding areas, remind yourself to enjoy the journey. There is so much beauty to experience in the in-between. Each area will have its own predominant colors, such as golden yellows, bold reds, crisp greens, or burnt oranges. Take the time to enjoy the vibrant colors that paint the mountainsides and the streets of town. We have included some suggested day trips for anyone who is looking to get out and explore the area around Helena!

Suggested day trips

Deer Lodge, Anaconda, Butte, Boulder, and Montana City & Clancy

East Helena, Townsend, Three Forks, Boulder, and Montana City & Clancy

Drummond, Philipsburg, Anaconda, and Deer Lodge

Wolf Creek & Craig, Augusta, Lincoln, and Marysville

Many of these communities will have their own events taking place. Make sure to check out the Southwest Montana events page to help make the most of your time while you are there, and don’t forget to check out the Helena events page as well!

Scenic drives are great, especially for seeing the vastness of Montana, but it is not the only way to get out and explore the exquisite fall colors. We have been fortunate enough to continue having beautiful weather, and it would be a shame not to get out there and enjoy it. Check out our blog on the “Top Fall Foliage Hikes Near Helena.”
